Two Factor Authentication

Passwords are notoriously weak in many cases. With Two Factor authentication (2FA) you eliminate passwords from being a potential weakness for your network.

Rockford IT are an IT Security company in the West Midlands. We recommend Gemalto Safenet as our preferred Two Factor authentication solution. Gemalto is one of the world’s leading IT security companies.

How it works

It’s a process where two of three possible methods of authentication are combined. This means that even if your user name and password is compromised, in a data leak for example, your account would remain secure as the criminal won’t know the third factor of authentication only you have.

  • One Time password (OTP). Generated in 2 places (to you as a user, and one Gemalto Servers) and if the match you gain access.  Suitable for most organisations.
  • Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).  Identifies a user by linking a pair of public and private keys with the users identity credentials.  The private key is used to authenticate, encrypt and digitally sign.
